Armenia Unitary state

Armenia (officially the Republic of Armenia) is a unitary state in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. A former Soviet Socialist Republic, it shares land borders with Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east and Iran to the south.

Despite being located in Asia, Armenia is considered culturally, historically and politically part of Europe, and geographically on its outskirts.

Armenia is divided into 10 provinces, led by chief executives appointed by the central government. The chief executives have their own staff.

The country has a single tier of local self-government comprising 915 municipal communities.
